Outdoor Steps & Walkways
The connectors — steps and walks that tie the patio, drive, and door together and make the yard usable.
The Straight Story
The connectors that make the rest of the yard work
A patio you can't get to comfortably doesn't get used. Steps and walkways are the connective tissue of a yard — from the driveway to the front door, from the back door down to the patio, from the patio out to the fire pit. When they're right, nobody notices them. When they're wrong — wobbly, uneven, iced over in the shade — everybody does.
We build walks and steps on the same standard as our patios: excavated, compacted base, consistent riser heights, and slope that sheds water instead of holding it as ice. Block steps get set on base that was compacted for the load, not stacked on topsoil.
Paired with low-voltage lighting, a walk stays usable after dark — worth thinking about at build time, when running the wire is easy.
How It Goes
Four steps, no surprises
- 01
We come look
A free on-site visit. We walk the yard, take grades and measurements, and talk through what's actually worth doing.
- 02
Scope & number
A written scope with materials, base depth, and drainage spelled out — and one honest price, not a range.
- 03
We build it
Excavation, compaction, base, then finish work. Daniel is on site running the job, not managing it by phone.
- 04
We keep it up
Optional weekly maintenance so the beds, edges, and lawn look the way they did the week we finished.
Questions
Asked on most estimates
Straight answers up front — and anything we missed gets answered on the free on-site visit.
Can you match my existing patio or house materials?
Usually, yes. Paver lines run deep, and where an exact match is gone, a deliberate border or contrast course looks intentional instead of almost-matching.
Do you build steps into a slope?
Yes — cut into the grade on compacted base, often with a small wall or cheek on each side to hold the slope back. That combination is one of our most common builds.
What does a walkway cost?
Length, width, and how much grade we're dealing with drive it. The on-site estimate is free and comes with a written scope — one honest number, not a range that grows.
